The majority of this wall-mount sculpture is forged from a single piece of mild steel. With a large “cow lily” forged in one end, and a hummingbird forged in the other, the span of steel between the two is twisted and hammered flat to present a “flat rope” edge pattern. The 14-inch diameter ring is riveted at the overlap point (bottom), and the lily and hummingbird are mounted in a configuration suggesting that the bird is drinking from the blossom. Two climbing vines are wrapped around portions of the perimeter ring, the flower stem, and the bird support.
